5. Honda EU2200i
If you ask most of the people who deal with generators regularly what the best 2000 watt inverter generator is – a lot of them are going to answer quickly: the Honda.
What most of them probably have in mind is the incredibly successful Honda EU2000i. This was one of the first 2000 watt inverter generators ever made and quickly won the hearts of shoppers in the US and worldwide.
It got replaced by the EU2200i in 2018.
Not much has changed in the design except for one noticeable difference – the new EU2200i has got 200 more starting and running watts while having the exact same size, weight and – the best thing – the noise level.
The generator produces 2200 running watts and 1800 starting watts.
This is enough to run a lot of work tools and camping equipment. You could also use it in parallel with another Honda 2000 watt generator to get more power. In such case you could easily power most of the important items in your RV (such as the AC) or use it a home backup supply durring hurricane.
As we’ve mentioned, the noise level is one of the best things about this gen.
It makes only around 50 decibels sound at quarter load. This is a truly impressive number and way much quieter than most of the other generators.
EU2200I has got the original Honda GXR12o engine – one of the best of its kind.
Fuel efficiency is another major plus of this 2000 watt inverter generator. You can run it continuously for around 9 hours on with just 1 gallon of gas. This is thanks to the Honda patented Eco-Throttle fuel-saving system. It automatically adjusts the current gas consumption of the generator according to the current demand. In this way you can be sure that the generator consumes only as much fuel as needed – no less, no more.
What I don’t like about EU2200i is that it doesn’t have an electric start. The manual recoil start up is your only way to go, which can be slightly annoying. I wouldn’t call it a major downside for sure though.
Another thing you might not like about the 2200i is its high price. However, if you ask me and other experts in the field and you ‘re going to find out that it’s worth the money. This is one of those generator companies which have excellent reputation and make sturdiest inverter generators you can get.
